2.What is
a MICR toner cartridge?
The MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. MICR is
a process by which documents are printed using magnetic ink and special
fonts to create machine readable information for quick document processing.
The principal purpose of MICR toner is to print accounting and routing
information on bank checks and other negotiable documents. MICR toner is
similar to standard laser printer toner, but requires a 50% to 60% iron
oxide additive content to meet ANSI specifications for readability
standards.

3.What is a remanufactured cartridge?
A remanufactured cartridge is a cartridge that has been recycled to OEM
specifications. The process includes inspecting the old cartridge, replacing
all worn parts, and print testing the cartridge for quality.

4.What is a compatible cartridge?
There are two types of compatible cartridges: the first type is "compatible"
with most Copiers, Fax Machines, Ink Jets, and Printer Ribbons and is brand
new. The only difference - it is manufactured by a different company. The
second type of compatible cartridge is made from recycled plastic and parts.

5.Why would I switch from OEM to remanufactured cartridge?
Beside the obvious environmental
benefits of recycling, there is tremendous cost savings. Typically
a printer that costs $1,000 will use $7,000 in toner cartridges during it's
normal life of 5 years. Compatible toner cartridges can save you 30 - 50% of
this cost, resulting in savings of $2,100 - $3,500 per $1,000 in printer cost.
An empty toner cartridge adds approximately 3-5 pounds of unnecessary waste to landfills. Over 75 million
pounds of plastic and metal are saved from landfills each year as a result
of printer cartridge re-manufacturing. The plastic used in each printer
cartridge will take over one thousand years to decompose. The manufacturing
process used to create new cartridges depends heavily on fossil fuels,
imported fossil fuels. More than three quarts of oil are required to produce
each new laser cartridge. This year alone, cartridge re-manufacturing will
save over twenty million gallons of oil.

6.If I use a compatible or remanufactured toner and ink cartridge in my
machine, will it void the manufacturer's warranty?
Using a compatible or remanufactured cartridge will not void the manufacturer's
warranty. It is illegal for the manufacturer to prevent you from using
cartridges from other sources than the original manufacturer. Similarly, it
would be illegal for Radio Shack to mandate that you only use their
batteries in their products. You are the consumer, and you have a choice.
"Using
refilled print cartridges alone does not affect either the warranty or any
maintenance contract purchased from HP for its HP Inkjet printers."
